“Grief loosens our grip, helping us bow to the impermanence of the living world. Then our awareness of the living world—of ourselves and others in it—can become more spacious, connecting us in surprising new ways to what we have left behind as well as to the possibilities that lie ahead, as yet unseen.” (From Trusting Change, by Karen Hering)
This month’s focus is on grieving as a way of opening our hearts both to what no longer is and to what is not yet. In this way, it reorients us to the gifts of both memory and imagination on the cusp of change. If you’d like to explore this in an online session of embodied practices and guided writing, reflection and conversation, please register for “On the Cusp of Change: Grieving,” on Tuesday, March 12. Registration through the Christine Center and Prairiewoods retreat centers is open to all. Paid subscribers to Threshold Times can register using the link below, where you’ll also find this month’s audio recording from Trusting Change. Both are benefits of a paid subscription; if you are a paid subscriber, be sure to scroll down to receive them.
There is so much to grieve today, friends. As there always is. Our invitation is to let grief open our hearts to our own feelings, to one another and to the possibilities embedded in our shared world.
As always, wishing you good writing and good faith,
Karen
